Using spices and herbs can seem daunting. There are so many. Bucketlist true story: My friends admire my use of spices and herbs. I don’t use measuring spoons. Trance like, I pick one spice, add the right amount, grab another and continue.

My partner recently complimented my spice dance. Bucketlist knows ain’t nothing like a Partner compliment. I stopped and remembered.
Bucketlist confession: I’d watch in awe as my Mother stood over the stove. Spice cupboard open. Her hands going from one spice to the next without pause. It’s one of my favorite memories of the womyn who raised me for a while.
When I started taking notes on Mama’s recipes I’d get frustrated. She couldn’t say exactly how much of a spice she’d use. Her response was always some version of “just watch.” Bucketlist admits: Mom’s right. About this. She’d be wrong on other shizzle though.
Originally when we posted Bucketlist we didn’t add videos. Bucketlist Lifehack™: We all learn from watching. I never knew the person Mama watched as she learned to cook. Thing is, I cook like ’em. Recipes may differ, but the foundation is the result of watching someone who watched someone who watched someone. Subtext all womyn.
