Mother’s-mum, Ami, was a force. She survived the brutality of a war that forces Parents to pick how many of their children to run with. Bucketlist confession: I didn’t know Ami. I never knew a Grandparent. I had one or two phone calls with her. I think. I have stories. Mama’s-father, Aba, died in the war when she was young. Mama hadn’t collected enough stories to make him memorable to her kids. I learned Aba was a known and respected lawyer, generous, and emphasized education for all children.

Spicy Cabbage Toss is the next level. 7 minutes and you release fear of spices.
Ami shared many recipes, remedies and happy-life nuggets with Mama. Mama passed them on to those she raised. I was in awe of Mama’s cooking. I understood that she’d learned watching the Mother that raised her. By high school, I made Mama cook specific things while I took notes. Bucketlist fact: Real chefs don’t measure. So asking “Mummy, how much pepper?” would result in a “just watch me.” I spent hours of my time watching Mama cook.

Since high school my friends have admired my cooking. Especially my knack for spices. They’ve a tough time with spices. Ami taught Mama who taught me to start simple. I used Ami’s pro-cabbage wisdom and Mama’s techniques to create E-Z P-Z recipes. Spicy Cabbage Toss is the next level in Cabbage Tosses. 7 minutes and you release fear of spices. Death-Free™ deliciousness for those who like it hot. How’d your Grandparents like it? Parents? Time to learn all you can, while you can.
Bon appétit, Friends.
