Çiğ Köfta (steak tartar)

Truth’s underrated. On all real-world levels we’re facing consequences of normalizing deception. It impacts the personal too. A lot. Yet raw truth just isn’t welcomed.

Çiğ Köfta is raw truth made easy. So easy. Zero cooking.

Bucketlist confession: I tend to speak to the point. Friends say, “you have the finger on the wound”. “World’s not prepared for your honesty.”

The family that raised me penalized my honesty. My Parents’ children were predominantly dishonest. Some small lies. Some major fibs. Generally, liars.

Bucketlist Lifehack™: Make deception the rarest exception. Imagine if raw honesty was mandatory in government, business, religion, food.

Çiğ is raw. Steak tartar’s raw cadaver flesh seasoned, smoked or topped with an egg. Made for those attached to their Orca past life, and even they need seasoning. Few want to chew raw death.

I fibbed some, of course. After all, I was trained in my privileged middle school that lying to adults was mandatory. Bucketlist fact: Real bad influence isn’t in poor school scenes.

Bucketlist true story: In high school I decided to call my Mother about cutting after practice. She yelled. I said she had the right to be upset but must choose whether to be angry over the phone or when I got home. I cautioned that if she elected to moming over the phone I wouldn’t call again. I’d rather risk being yelled at once. She paused. “I won’t yell on the phone, always call me.” I’d tell Mum all sorts. I Loved her.

My debate coach who blessed NYC public schools, listened in on the call. “How do your Parents know what to do with you?” Bucketlist shrugs. Ultimately, they didn’t know.

I realized potential discipline wasn’t worth the hassle of a lie. I opted out. My Parents’ kids bunkered down. When my Partner first visited, they became vicious. My openness targeted the hypocrisy of their double lives. My Mother, who’d asked me to invite my Partner, feigned cluelessness. Bucketlist reality: Dishonesty devastates.

Bucketlist Soulhack™: Truth isn’t yours or mine, it just is. Even when we fail it. Çiğ Köfta is raw truth made easy. So easy. Zero cooking. Tasty and Death-Free™. Honestly, we don’t need to hurt to live. Choose your normal, Truth or lie.

Bon appétit, Friends.
